There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Research Interests

I am a condensed matter theorist and my main research interests lie in the study of strongly correlated electronic systems. These are materials where the interactions between electrons play a crucial role and lead to novel phenomena not explainable by single electron band structure effects. Examples include the Mott insulators, spin liquids, and topological phases. Current efforts are devoted to the identification of spin-liquid phases with gapless excitations or topological degeneracy in Mott insulators with magnetic frustration and superconducting phases emerging from strong electron-electron correlations in d orbitals. By using numerical and analytic approaches, I work on several aspects of electronic and bosonic problems on the lattice.

My personal beliefs are:

  • Projected fermionic wave functions for spin liquids
  • Resonating valence bond theory of superconductivity
